Apparently the origins of eggnog (still a very debated subject) are in East England, where it was an aristocratic beverage. Afterwards it got to the British colonies where it became very popular.
There was even an Eggnog Riot that occurred at the United Stated Military Academy, in 1826, when a few cadets smuggled whiskey into their barracks to make eggnog for the Christmas party. The result was pretty serious with twenty cadets being court-martialed for what they did.
Let's see how this famous eggnog is made.
Ingredients:
- vodka - 200 ml
- milk - 300 ml
- powdered sugar - 300 grams
- liquid cream - 200 ml
- eggs - 7 pieces
- bourbon vanilla sugar - 8 grams
Instructions:
- First of all whisk the whipped cream (that must be kept in the fridge until this step). Use an electric mixer.
- Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. In a bowl mix the egg yolks with the powdered sugar until you have a cream.
- Put the egg yolk cream in a bigger bowl and start adding whipped cream over it, bit by bit.
- Add bourbon vanilla sugar, vodka and milk. Whisk everything very well. Keep it in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
- Serve it with a pinch of cinnamon on top.
Enjoy your meal!
Tips:
- Add as much alcohol as you want depending on how strong you want the eggnog to be. I added just a bit because i wanted this to be more like a beverage for ladies.
